Freedom Marathon, Inc. Donates More than Eight Thousand Dollars to Jacksonville Wounded Warrior Organization |
September 12, 2011-GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FL- Freedom Marathon, Inc. (FMI), supports veterans through running events held throughout the United States. On Wednesday, Sept. 21, money raised from their Inaugural Green Cove Springs Freedom 8K race will be presented to the Jacksonville Wounded Warrior Project and one local wounded veteran. The donation ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Wounded Warrior Project Headquarters located at Ste 100, 7020 A C Skinner Parkway Jacksonville, FL 32256. More than eight thousand dollars will be presented to the Wounded Warrior Project and more than a thousand dollars will go to Gunnery Sergeant John Hayes. Hayes, a double leg amputee was wounded in Afghanistan in 2010 and is currently living in the Jacksonville area. The donation ceremony is a celebration which will recognize FMI sponsors, the many key volunteers and the community of Green Cove Springs who made this inaugural race a success. "We are excited to honor both our wounded warriors and volunteers from the Green Cove Springs race. Both are an integral part of what we do and this ceremony is another step taken to further our mission and support our Veterans," said Manny Cordero, CEO and Founder of Freedom Marathon, Inc. FMI’s mission includes raising awareness for wounded veterans through running events. FMI partnered with the City of Green Cove Springs, FL for the Inaugural Freedom 8K Series during this past Memorial Day Weekend. The 2011 race was held in conjunction with the 23rd Annual Memorial Day Riverfest Celebration. The race was the first in a five year series with the City of Green Cove Springs.
During Veterans Day weekend FMI will co-sponsor the Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon. The marathon is part of a five year partnership with the City of Norfolk.

Olympian Anne Audain Joins Freedom Marathon, Inc. for Veterans Day Weekend Event in Norfolk, VA Three time Olympian Will Provide Two Seminars at the Inaugural Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon Nov. 11-12
Olympian Anne Audain, the first professional female distance runner, teams up with Freedom Marathon, Inc. to provide support to Veterans and their families. Anne Audain will provide two seminars and a book signing session during the Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon Weekend, November 11-13.
Freedom Marathon, Inc. (FMI) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness and support the needs of veterans and their families through running events. The FMI team is excited to have Audain join the list of speakers for the weekend. "Ms. Audain is a champion athlete and a pioneer in women’s sports. We are excited to have her provide key insight into living a more healthy and fit lifestyle," said Manny Cordero, CEO and Founder, Freedom Marathon, Inc. Ms. Audain will host a number of seminars:
Friday, Nov. 11 seminar titled Tips for Young Runners, Their Parents and Coaches from a New Zealand Running Champion, and will highlight lessons learned through rehabilitation of her feet and the coaching methods of her second coach.
Saturday, Nov. 12 From New Zealand to the USA! Running My Way seminar will include a slide show presentation of her life story.
An autograph and book signing session will also be held on Nov. 12 and include a question and answer portion.
Audain won more races than any other male or female distance runner in the 1980s and qualified for the Olympics six times. She is a Commonwealth Gold and Silver Medalist. In 1995 she was honored by Queen Elizabeth II Member of the British Empire for her services to the athletic world. Her biography "Uncommon Heart" was released in 2000 and documents her life as an adopted orphan who overcame reconstructive foot surgery and eventually led the way in women’s sports.
Upon the completion of the half marathon on Nov. 13, Audain will take pictures and sign autographs for those interested.

Freedom Marathon, Inc. Offers Local Nonprofits Free Fundraising Opportunity
FMI Teams up with Charity Partners to allow organizations to raise funds for their causes
August 16, 2011-Norfolk, VA- Freedom Marathon, Inc. (FMI) is teaming up with Charity Partners for their upcoming Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon on Veterans Day weekends in Norfolk, VA. FMI is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness and support the needs of Veterans and their families through running events. The inaugural event is a weekend of events for the entire family. Charity Partners provides a free fundraising platform to increase funding to charities and the causes they support. FMI will provide:
- A link for each charity to have a brief description about the cause they support and a link to their website
- A "donate" button that takes users to the charity’s website in order to make contributions
In turn each charity agrees to have 15 registered runners for the Half Marathon or 30 or more runners for the Wounded Warrior and Family Fun Run 5K. At the end of each race FMI will provide 10 x 10 tent space at the finish line that can be used to raise funds for the charity.

Team from Freedom Marathon, Inc Embarks on 195-Mile Relay in the Rocky Mountains
Team Freedom will run over 24 hours to honor our country’s warriors in the Colorado Relay Aug 26-27 July 29, 2011-Breckenridge, CO- A Team of three runners from Freedom Marathon, Inc. (FMI) will participate in the 195-mile Colorado Relay, Aug. 26-27. Freedom Marathon, Inc is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness and support the needs of Veterans and their families through running events. The relay will be held through the Rocky Mountains in Breckenridge, CO. Team Freedom is participating in this event to help raise awareness for FMI and its causes. "Running is the 195-mile long Colorado Relay provides us another great opportunity to honor the courageous men and women who are or have served our country in uniform," said Freedom Marathon, Inc., CEO and Founder, Manny Cordero. Freedom Marathon Inc., Unveils One of a Kind Runners Medal
Norfolk,VA./ November 30, 2010 --Freedom Marathon, Inc (FMI), is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness and support the needs of Veterans and their families through running events. They unveil their one of a kind runners medallion in Norfolk, Virginia this Wednesday. The first medal will be presented to Norfolk City Officials at later date.
"As a runner and marathoner, I understand the importance of having a great medal for marathon participants. We wanted a medal that was truly one of a kind and expressed the significance of this race," said Manny Cordero, CEO and Founder, Freedom Marathon, Inc. "Our goal is to make this medal something our runners will be proud of and a reminder that we have not forgotten the sacrifices our veterans and their families have made for this county."
This medal is different than any other on the marathon circuit. The Norfolk Freedom Marathon medal is an extremely detailed 3 dimensional medal encrusted with 12 crystals. A mermaid hangs by a chain from the medal to pay tribute to the town of Norfolk. Mermaids can be spotted in outdoor sites across Norfolk symbolizing 300 years of maritime and naval heritage and its modern reputation as a city on the move. This medal hangs from a heat transferred ribbon which is made to resist smearing and heat which provides for a higher quality of graphics. Every individual who completes the Half Marathon will receive this medal.
The inaugural event is Veteran's Day weekend, November 11-13, 2011 in Norfolk, Virginia. The City of Norfolk and Freedom Marathon Inc., co-sponsor and host this event. This partnership will continue for the next five years. FMI will host a half marathon in 2011 followed by full marathons in the subsequent years. Running heavyweights such as Olympian Jeff Galloway and Bart Yasso have pledged their involvement to help make this event a success.
The Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon is sanctioned by USA Track & Field (USATF), the national governing body for long distance running.

Freedom Marathon, Inc. launches running event in support of Veterans and their families
Norfolk, VA (PRWEB) August 5, 2010 – Freedom Marathon, Inc (FMI), a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness and support the needs of Veterans and their families through running events opens registration Friday August 6th, 2010 for the Inaugural Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon.
