Ashworth Awards announces its partnership with Freedom Marathon Events.
The full line of the awards and medallions for the Freedom Marathon Events for 2012 and 2013 will be produced by Ashworth Awards. Kim Ashworth, Vice President of Ashworth Awards, is quoted with saying “Custom awards are our specialty and each medallion created has a special design element that is particularly important to each race location. We are very excited to be working with Manny Cordero for his medallion and award needs for his multi-state race series! Freedom Marathon, Inc. Announces Green Cove Freedom 8K
City of Green Cove Springs Partners with Freedom Marathon, Inc to Support Veterans
Tampa, FL October 4, 2010 – Freedom Marathon, Inc., a nonprofit organization that works to support veterans through running events has partnered with the City of Green Cove Springs, FL for the First Annual Green Cove Freedom 8K Race. This event will take place over Memorial Day Weekend, May 28th - 30th, 2011. The race will be held in conjunction with the 23rd Annual Memorial Day Riverfest Celebration.
“We are excited to partner with the City of Green Cove Springs and be a part of the annual Riverfest activities for the next five years,” said Manny Cordero, CEO and Founder of Freedom Marathon, Inc. “The Green Cove Freedom 8K will not only help raise awareness for the needs of veterans and their families, but also help raise awareness for the annual Riverfest as well.”
Local running hero Jeff Galloway is a member of the Freedom Marathon Leadership Team and has pledged to be in Green Cove Springs for the Riverfest activities. Proceeds from this race will support The Wounded Warrior Project as well as a to be determined local Green Cove Springs non-profit. This inaugural event will be the first of a 5-year partnership between Green Cove Springs and Freedom Marathon, Inc. Online registration is now open for this event at www.FreedomMarathon.org.
Green Cove Springs is the first city to partner with Freedom Marathon, Inc as part of the Freedom 8K Series. Freedom Marathon, Inc. has partnered with Norfolk, Virginia to launch its Freedom Marathon Series of races, with the first planned for Veterans Day Weekend in 2011.

RiverFest organizers have just confirmed that ESPN host Carissa Bealert will be the Official Announcer of the Freedom 8K Series Race during the 2011 Memorial Day RiverFest Weekend (May 28-30). Green Cove Springs Mayor Bob Page stated "we're thrilled that she [Carissa Bealert] is coming to RiverFest. As the on-court emcee for the Orlando Majic, respected ESPN announcer, and former Miss Orange County USA, she will only add to the level of star power we're expecting this year".

For 23 years, the annual family oriented festival has been a patriotic celebration honoring those who who served America, along with a "Parade of Flags" tribute to those who perished while serving from Clay County, according to City Planing & Zoning Director Lee Bentley. Bentley explained that this year will include an unprecedented level of weekend events and celebrity participation. "with the Freedom 8k Series race, benefitting wounded veterans, coming to RiverFest this year, a host of athletes including Olympic runner Jeff Galloway, 4 time Boston Marathon winner and US Olympian Bill Rogers, and an Olympic Gold medalist [to be announced soon] will make 2011 the most exciting RiverFest in the celebration's 23 year history." -Stated Bently
Private donors, such as Title Sponsor Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, have underwritten the cost of the festival, which includes Fireworks, Concert on the Green, 8K Race, Memorial Day Ceremony, Children's Events, and Security.
