Freedom 8K Finisher's Medal

2nd Annual Green Cove Springs Freedom Race/Walk 8k
2012 Finisher’s Medal Unveiled

Considered a unique running event at the beautiful and scenic city of Green Cove Springs, Florida. The Freedom 8k Race/Walk has unveiled its finisher’s medal for 2012!

With a 8k Race/Walk, Wheelchair Division 8k, Stroller’s Division 8k and a Freedom Mile for children offered on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2012, there are multiple opportunities for runners and walkers to get active and take home a unique medal. All distances will receive a finisher’s medal. The medal is unique to the race day (Memorial Day) along with the ribbon which will highlight the participant’s finish of their individual race event. But more so, it highlights Memorial Day - originally called Decoration Day - a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service.

The finisher’s medal is one of a kind. The medal size is 3-inch x 3-inch, three dimensional with a sparkling crystal at the center bottom of the medal and a 1.5-inch high quality heat transfer ribbon.

Again, this medal is something our runners will be proud of and a reminder that we have not forgotten the sacrifices our veterans and their families have made for this country.

The Freedom 8k Race/Walk is an event full of run events and fun for the whole family. For the second year, the Wounded Warrior Project and Gunnery Sergeant Hayes are the primary beneficiaries of the event. Gunnery Sergeant Hayes is a double leg amputee wounded in Afghanistan in 2010 and continues his recovery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
